5k Flash: Sleeper in Seattle; 1980s Volvo 700 with Ford 5.0 V8
We really hate to give the Unsold Adams award to a cool sleeper that hides a V8 under its hood – a literal Fox in Sheep’s clothing…but this ad is totally devoid of appropriate information to sell a car. Find this 1980-ish Volvo 700-ish with a Ford 5.0 V8 swap in for sale in Seattle, WA for $3,000 via craigslist.
We understand…we really do…this guy doesn’t have a lot of time to write down the details of the entire build of this V8 powered Volvo…but to not even include the vehicle’s model or year of manufacture is basic grounds for craiglist flagging IMHO. We are also keen to understand what on earth the blue/green thing parked next to it is…?? Any ideas?
Ignore the blue/green USO (unidentified standing object) and focus your attention on the second and last photo in the ad – showing a Ford 5.0 V8 from a 1987 Mustang with a trickflow intake manifold. It is reportedly attached to a 5 speed manual transmission and some 4.11 ‘hill-climbin” gears out back. Expect rapid tire wear. Bottom line, you want a cheap 5.0 powered Volvo, this could be a great deal or total garbage – we can’t tell from the listing.

DT, you are so correct about the poor ad. It might be considered a good prospect for a newer 5.0 implant since the geometry seems to have been worked out…
