I’ve seen some bad photos in car advertisements over the years. The number of sellers who chose to take blurry photos or photos at gas stations far exceeds logic (we at DT use the tag “unsold adams” to highlight the worst of the worst)…HOWEVER, I have never seen anyone take a photo of their car […]
I can’t decide which part of this next advertisement annoys me more. Is it the “unsold adams” photography, or the number of alphanumeric designators the sellers haphazardly heaps into the listing. S40, T5, AWD, 6speed, AC, whlz, 82k…are we still paying for characters in a listing like its a telegram? Sure, some is Volvos fault […]
The Mercedes-Benz W114/115 chassis is the often overlooked E-class predecessor chassis that is overshadowed by the prettier W108/109 chassis. The big S-Class ancestor W108 with its fancier front end and stacked headlamps is a bargain classic, so the downmarket W114 is forced into an even more compromised market situation…bad news for “collectors” but great news […]
It is hard to look at pictures of an Alfa Romeo GTV 105/115 series and not fall in love…well, unless the pictures are taken in blow-your-brains-out 21:9 ratio portrait mode, but even that cannot tarnish the beauty of a red GTV. (DT has cropped the photos to make them more user friendly for human beings […]
Wondering what happened to the screaming F20C engine and 6-spd gearbox from our last V8 swapped S2000 feature? We have the answer! Well, probably not the exact same drivetrain, but you get the idea. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Volvo’s fuel injected B20E engine which came stock in the 1800ES shooting brake, but what if you […]
Every now and then, we come across an Ebay auction that has SOME red flags. We’re posting this one to see how many red flags our readers can find in this one. Offered up for our readers’ scrutiny is an example of a seller with Zero feedback listing a car that, if one reads closely, […]
The SJ generation Jeep Cherokee was a 2-door ‘sporty’ version of the Jeep Wagoneer station wagon. The Cherokee also has the dubious honor of claiming to have been the first vehicle to use the term “sporty utility” in its sales brochures, although the SJ chassis is light on sport and heavily tilted to the utility […]
We really hate to give the Unsold Adams award to a cool sleeper that hides a V8 under its hood – a literal Fox in Sheep’s clothing…but this ad is totally devoid of appropriate information to sell a car. Find this 1980-ish Volvo 700-ish with a Ford 5.0 V8 swap in for sale in Seattle, WA […]
DT regulars are aware that we sometimes issue the Ansel Adams Award for outstanding Photography in an Automotive Ad or Auction. Well, today, we’re offering the Razzies equivalent of that prestigious award… the Unsold Adams Award for worst presentation of an otherwise sellable car. The seller of this otherwise promise 1968 J-Code Mustang Fastback decided […]
