What Am I? Gauge The Response
Welcome to another edition of DT’s cure for the Monday morning blues — What Am I? In this better than running out of gas game
we find a random picture of a car and you get to guess what it is.
Last week we showed everybody the electric future and Fleetwood T. Brougham solved the riddle in 12 minutes, but today we have a simple set of analog gauges. Just what am I anyway? Update below.
Comments below.
Update: The folks who suggested Cougar where indeed correct, this is the inside of a very nice/clean 1968 Mercury Cougar currently bidding on eBay for $7,410 with a few hours to go, located in Phoenix, AZ.
This Cougar comes with an F-code 302 cubic inch V8 rated at 210 horsepower (SAE gross) and a 3-speed automatic transmission. This is an original paint survivor (with some signs of wear) but looks to be a great deal for someone looking for something with character.
is that the purple maverick from yesterday? looks ford-y and can see a bit of purple hood there
I'll guess a 1968 Cougar.
i think cougar is a good guess. I will say 67 Cougar
Brian – you are correct, it is a 1968 Cougar. Info/link added to body of post. Good eye!
Not plastic enough to be a Maverick and Fords tended to be gas and speedo only, I think it's a Mopar.
'67 Cougar seems right.
The two-big-holes was '66-67 midsize Ford, all across the line, but the Falcons and Comets and Fairlanes didn't have the top-center clock or whatever that lever is.
It seems right, but at the same time, I've never seen a Mustang or Cougar that didn't have a round temp gauge where the two dummy lights are on the right in this picture?
Looks similar but not identical to the instrument cluster my 66 Mustang had– but bulky steering wheel, and extra plastic padding suggest a bigger model Ford or Mercury of that era. Definitely Fomoco.
Sold $8603, and 50 bids. Pretty active auction..
Always a bridesmaid; never a bride.
I've never heard of an F-code in 1968. A or C-codes are the norm. This could be a rare piece? Well bought I would say.
