What Am I? Camo Edition
Welcome to another edition of DT’s cure for the Monday morning blues — What Am I? In this better than turning on the sprinklers at a KISS concert game
we find a random picture of a car and you get to guess what it is.
Last week’s puzzle was a picture of a bizarre Anglia based Falcon Caribbean kit car and was solved by Jim S in a few minutes. This week it is time for another oddball, but this time the car has been camouflaged by its manufacturer. Just what am I anyway?
Comments below. Big thanks to Kaibeezy for the cell phone quality pic. Please show your work — don’t just randomly blurt out names until someone gets it right.
Maybe a Jag?
Looks like the new Jaguar X-type in camo.
Yup…check it out. autoblog.com/2014/05/21/jaguar-xe-spy-shots-nurburgring/
I will be honest with you…I'm not entirely certain I know what it is either. Kaibeezy did stop and chat with the fellow inside and verified what it was. Hope he has time to chime in at some point and clear things up.
New Volvo S80….
It's not a Volvo
Rats, my other guess was a Hyundai..
Maaaybe. Does the missing back seat window divider matter?
Only if you're concerned with things like accuracy, and precision, and correctness. 😉 Ok, my link sucked but I'm sticking with an XF. here's a better link. images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/2016-jaguar-xf-spy-shots_100484686_l.jpg
The headlights. The wing mirror. That's got to be the one. I had guesses from reasonably knowledgeable people that were all over the place – Audi, Taurus, Miata. OK, not Miata.
As much as I was curious what the car was, what I really wanted to know was: Why were they road testing on residential streets in my semi-remote NorCal hamlet? I actually blocked him to ask what it was and why he was testing there. Answer: A Silicon Valley company doing some advanced emissions controls. I guess it was just more interesting than up and down the freeway. Maybe varying the driving speeds mattered. Simulating varied daily drives. Dunno.
Anyhoo, cheers all.
It looks like the San Mateo County coast to me, too.
How about a nice game of Geoguessr.com
Man. I gotta brush up on my Cyrillic alphabets because they kept dinging me points for confusing Eastern Russia/Kazakhstan with Romania. 10,184 points on first try.
Aaaaaand there goes my afternoon.
Audi
its an audi grill, but the real tip off is that Audi camouflage
I'm guessing A8
BMW has similar camouflage . and the taillights, if remotely close to actual model, are not Audi.
i dont think it is the 2106 Jag XE as the front end from side profile looks different as does C pillar
It's not the XE, it's the 2016 XF. Check it….
That camo vinyl wrap must a standard German item, because I spotted the new Mercedes GTS going south on the I5 through Irvine last Saturday evening, 8-ish…same exact camo pattern.
I wonder when they choose to use camo and when not to. I live in the coldest area of the US where most of the cold weather testing is done by automakers and I haven't ever seen this camo in person. They wear front and rear bras that disguise the facia pretty well. They could just have those on for sensors I guess.
This is a testament to how much cars look alike now. Safety and drag coefficient lead to one design eventually. The only clue on this one is the defending belt line, and even then it could be a few different makers, including Hyundai !
Decending belt Line… Damn spell check..
I eat so much food this time of year that my belt is the last line of defense against the descent of my pants.
Agreed. At first glance Cadillac sprung to my mind.
So the clues givin lead to a Tesla…but it would be one we have never seen…so it is a Tesla right?
Fleetwood got it right..the 2016 Jag XF!!
Appears the decending beltline is a fake infer the camo….
Roush Confusion !
This has gotta be an Audi! Those side mirrors look awfully familiar…but without scale, it's hard to tell if it's the tall (A4), grande (A6) or vente (A8) size.
look up. ^^^ It's not an Audi.
So what is it? I read the comments, but must to totally blind…

Whatever it is it looks boring and unimaginative.
