Datsun Powered: 1931 American Austin
I’m really feeling the “old car” vibe today…probably the fumes in my 65 Buick getting to my head…but I really don’t enjoy some of the routine maintenance required in old engines…so I’m think the way to fix this is to find something vintage with a slightly more modern drivetrain. Like this 1931 American Austin with Datsun 1200 engine offered for $9000 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.
From the seller:
1931 american austin coupe

1931 American Austin manufactured in Butler Penn. USA. The car has been altered the original engine and drive train has been replaced with a Datsun 1200 engine and automatic transmission and Datsun rear end.The car appears to be stock. Was built by an amature and could use some tlc. The car is a lot of fun it will be the only one there at car shows. The car is very small it is the type of car that 15 clowns got out of at the Circus
See a better way to drive something compact? tips@dailyturismo.com
hahaha! this is why I love DT.
Yeah, this would be hilarious fun.
Oh Magoo you have done it again…..
Interesting bit of trivia: The early Nissan / Datsuns were actually Austins built under licence and a lot of Datsun parts through the sixties interchange with a lot of British cars like Austin, Triumph and MG. I'm planning on putting a 1969 Datsun pickup dual circuit brake cylinder in my TR3 right after I get that round tuit.
