Autobahn Crusher: 1999 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG
In the pecking order of German sport sedans for the people who like handling it goes like this: BMW M3, AMG CXX, Audi S4. For those who like to speed it goes like this AMG CXX, Audi S4, BMW M3. And finally, for those who like cheap entry price on a used example it goes like this AMG CXX, Audi S4, BMW M3. Find this 1999 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG offered for $5,500 in White Salmon, OR via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
The C43 is powered by a 4.3 liter M113 V8 that is rated at 302
horsepower and 302 ft-lbs of torque (a bit more than the 279 hp/295
ft-lbs in the non AMG versions). Unfortunately the AMG models were
never available with a manual transmission and you’ll have to live with
the 5-speed slushbox transmission. However, rumor has it that the later AMG C55 E55 CLK55 5.4 liter V8 are an easy swap into the C43.

White Salmon Washington….!
I am currently daily driving one of these. They glorious in traffic and on the freeway. Quiet, fast, comfortable.
It's also for sale and I have to say that these are somehow harder to sell even than my XJ8 was if that is possible. My XJ was a repulsive gold color and had about 170k miles on it. Not exactly people knocking my door down for that one.
It drives me crazy when the seller is so lazy they won't even back the car into the driveway to take pictures. Seriously, what the heck?!
I always liked the look of these cars, I had no idea you could fit the E55 engine in, that would be a blast!
