5k: Magic Bus: 1970 Ford E-200 Cargo Van

Sometimes a craigslist ad pops up that provides such an interesting picture of the seller that the normal formula for reporting doesn’t apply.  It doesn’t really matter that this is a 1970 Ford E-200 V8 Van for sale at $3500 in San Diego, CA via craigslist – because the photos are worth 1000 words…each.

Hand painted monochromatic murals of ’70s rock icons completely plaster the sides of this van – and they look well done….except that it is hard to make out details with the tiny photos combined in small collage style craigslist images.

The seller offers to paint the remaining panels (not sure what he is talking about because everything looks already done) with any classic rock icon of the buyers choosing; just don’t ask for Justin Bieber or Britney Spears as he’d probably kill you and you already know he has a van for corpse disposal.

One of the cooler decorations is of the Beatles – but they aren’t crossing Abby Road, instead they are crossing Newport Ave in OB – a fact the seller admits because he is “an Ocean beach native.”  For $3,500 this could be a cool work van- just don’t get any ideas about painting over the art because this thing belongs in a gallery.  We’d start by seeing if the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland has any free space.  See a crazier paint job? email us here: tips@dailyturismo.com
