5k: Head On A Pike: 1990 Nissan S-Cargo
The Nissan Figaro we posted on Monday was admittedly overpriced, especially considering that it is persona non grata for licensing in the state of California for at least 2 more years, and we found a much cheaper example in Vancouver, BC Canada for $7500 CAD. Still, the Figaro offers little useability, but its strangely named Pike build cousin, the S Cargo, is certainly a better car for taking trips to the dry cleaners, taxidermy shops, dump…et cetera. Find this 1990 Nissan S Cargo offered for $7,500 in Victoria, BC Canada via craigslist.
Sure, the S-Cargo looks like a washing machine with cartoon eyes, but it was a retro style take on the Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette delivery van. Even the name S-Cargo sounds like Escargot or snail in French.
Ack! A face only a mother could love! Actually, the S-Cargo transcends cute, comes out on the other side, and almost looks creepy if you stare at it too long. It has sort of a Hannibal Lecter/Bane thing going on in the grille area…
Under the hood is a 1.5 L E15S 4-cylinder gasoline engine and matching 3-speed automatic transmission from a Nissan Sunny.
Inside is room for 4 adults and a zany retro-futuristic styled dashboard. Some hints of French styling can be seen in the Citroen-like steering wheel, and everything else is playfully different from the average econobox.
The cargo area in the S-Cargo is surprisingly large with great access from a top hinged rear lift-gate. Fold the rear seats down and all kinds of junk could be stored back there.

This is what the Nissan Cube should have been.
So much cooler looking than a Nissan Puke…ummm…Juke?
If it were mine I would put Citroen 2CV badging all over it and confuse everyone at Cars & Coffee.
To confuse them further put Citroen DS badges on the steering wheel since it already fits the part.
It is illegal to import this to the US, isn't it?
Does this remind anyone else of Stan Mott's venerable Cyclops?

@ Andrew Liss: Yes, you are correct. At least for another 1-2 years, depending on build date.
