5k: Camry Powaaaahhhhh: 1992 Toyota MR2 w/ 3.0l V6 Swap
The Toyota MR2 is a mid-engine, rear-drive, 2-seater built from 1984 to 2007 and currently living directly in the sweet spot of freshly depreciated classics. The second generation (1991-1999) is new enough to still look good and be “fast,” but old enough to be off the radar of the young punks who drop $25k on a BRZ/FRS/WRX or whatever it is that young punk kids spend their cash on (cheap used minivan, drum set, hair dye, piercings, WoW magic items- who knows?). Find this 1992 Toyota MR2 w/ 3.0L Camry V6 swap for sale in Allentown, PA for $5,500 via craigslist. Tip from David K.
The MR2 was available from the factory with a 4-cylinder engine (2.2 liter naturally aspirated or 2.0 liter turbo) and 5-speed or auto gearbox. The seller of this MR2 has swapped a 3.0 liter Camry V6 and auto trans into the back and the resulting product looks surprisingly well done. The 3.0 liter V6 puts out 185 horsepower and 190 ft-lbs of torque – more than the 130 hp NA engine, but less than the 200 hp turbo.

I like these swaps, but I can't understand why you'd go to the trouble and then use an automatic transmission.
Maybe finding a Camry M/T was impossible.
The MR2 transmission can be used. Just needs a clutch/pressure plate.

Yeah family swaps are interesting, but this particular one doesn't seem to be an improvement in any way. Even with the manual, is the Camry engine desirable enough to warrant replacing the Mr. 2 engine with it?
Seems like a better route to take would either be to swap out the original NA engine with either a black top BEAMS motor or a 3sgte turbo, both of which make more power, are probably lighter and easier to swap.
Looks good to me for the money !
