5k: B5ive: 2001 Audi S4

The B5 generation Audi S4 was sold in North America from 1999 to 2002 and featured boosted power from a twin-turbo V6.  The B5 S4 was the first properly fast S4 model and set the stage for good looking 4-door Audis for years to come.  Today the B5 S4 is well depreciated but still remarkably fast for a sub $10k car with a clutch pedal and modern comfort.  Find this 2001 Audi S4 for sale in Sioux Falls, SD for $6,700 via craigslist.

The B5 S4 is often seen modified into a ticking time bomb with anodized parts filling the engine bay, so it is refreshing to see one that is stock.  Miles are high (161k), but considerable maintenance has been done recently and the 2.7 liter V6 is known to be robust.

The S4 is powered by a 2.7 liter twin-turbo V6 that puts out 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque for the US market.  Power is transferred to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox and Audi’s Torsen based Quattro permanent four-wheel-drive system.  More power is just an ECU chip away…but longevity will suffer with the increased power.
