15k: 2004 Audi S4

The B6 generation Audi S4 was produced from 2004-2005 as the top end to Audi’s A4 sedan series.  It replaced the previous generation twin turbo V6 with a brutish V8 from the A8 and is a great car when equipped with the 6 speed manual.  This 2004 Audi S4 is for sale in Clarksville, TN for $16,600 buy-it-now via ebay with only 68k miles on the odo and sporting R8 rims.

The S4 is a premium luxury sport sedan that competes with BMW’s M3 and AMG’s C55.  The Audi is a bit softer than the M3 and slower than then Mercedes, but it is available with manaul trans (unlike the AMG), has all-wheel-drive and a nicer interior than either competitor.

The S4 is pushed around by a 4.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 that puts out 340 horsepower and 302 ft-lbs of torque.  It is mated to Audi’s legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive system, designed to be able to put up to 80% of the torque front or rear depending on road conditions.  In reality the Audi is so front heavy due to the lump of an engine mounted in front of the front axle that it tends to push a lot, but it is a decent handling machine and worlds better than any FWD offering from folks like Acura/Lexus.

Overall the B5 S4 is starting to depreciate well into the DT favorite price range (below $15k) and you can even get a nice low mile one (like this example) for less than 1/4th of the original MSRP.  Personally we’d wait until the 250 limited edition 2006 B7 25quattro examples have reached a nice low price…we think these could be near their depreciation limit.
