10k: Think Inside The Box: 1967 BMW 2000 Tilux 4-Door Sedan

It seems you can’t surf craigslist for classic cars without tripping over piles of BMW 2002 New Class 2-doors, but the 1600/1800/2000 sedans seem to be almost gone.  Are they hidden away in collector’s air conditioned garages or rusted into the earth?  All we know is that they make an impression when they do show up.  Find this BMW 2000 Tilux 4-Door Sedan offered for $8,500 in Jupiter Farms, FL via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

This new class sedan is advertised as a Tilux model, the later name for the Ti-Lux edition.  It combined the powerful Ti (Turismo Internazionale) engine with luxury accommodations for the occupants.  A 2000 Tilux could make an interesting family driver if it hasn’t been thoroughly chewed up by the tin worm.

The engine bay photo shows the 2.0 liter M10 inline-4 (shared with the 2000 CS coupe) fed via twin Solex PHH side-draft carburetors and good for 120 horsepower.  Thankfully this engine is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox and it should make for a fun drive.
