With Warranty: 2001 Lexus LS430

The 3rd generation Lexus LS was released for the 2001 model year after 4 years of development with a cornucopia of new features like adaptive laser guided cruise control, touchscreen GPS navigation with DVD maps, power door/trunk closers, heater and cooled front seats (if you’ve ever enjoyed internally cooled front seats on a hot humid day, you’ll know how nice they are), parking sensors, air purifier, water repellent windshield and side glass — features that might be common on a new car today, but 15 years ago were not very common.  Today you don’t need to spend $70k to get one, just 1/10th of the original MSRP is needed to sit your rear on cooled/ventilated seats.  Find this 2001 Lexus LS430 offered for $7,750 here on eBay located in Ft Lauderdale, FL with 19 days to go.

The LS430 isn’t some piece of art from a cosmetic perspective, but its Akihiro Nagaya led design was purposefully made less restrained compared to the previous generation.  It still looks dangerously close to one of those generic “car” chew toys you can buy for your kids or pets, but it isn’t the least bit offensive…so I guess that’s some kind of success.

Under the hood is a 3UZ-FE 4.3 liter DOHC V8 rated at 290 horsepower and 320 ft-lbs of torque, which will propel this comfy chair to 60mph in about 6.7 seconds…not fast by modern sport sedan yardsticks, but close enough that you might ask the guys to pull out the bright orange giant lollipops held together by a 10 yard chain. But you aren’t buying this car because it is sporty, you are buying it because it sets the standard for quality and reliability in the luxury market.  You probably won’t need the 6 month warranty offered by the seller.
