The Mercedes-Benz 190E is an entry-level luxury car produced from 1982 to 1993, and even though it was Mercedes first attempt at the compact car market they did not skimp on the W201. This platform introduced a 5-link rear suspension subsequently used in E and C class models, front and rear anti-roll bars, anti-dive and anti-squat geometry—as well as airbags, ABS brakes and seatbelt pretensioners. They offered a number of engines, but the one to get with your 5-speed dogleg pattern gearbox was the Cosworth 16-valve engine. The 2.3-16V was based on the M102 four cylinder 2.3-litre 8-valve short block with Cosworth developed the cylinder head that pushed 185 horsepower out of the 2.3 liter 4-cylinders. “has a free turning motorâ€
Oh the horror – so apparently it has a crankshaft and nothing is preventing it from turning. That’s a mighty low bar. The tiniest bit of curiosity and desire to turn a profit would inspire a reasonable person ( looks like a dealer to me) to try to get it to run or come up with a plausible excuse for why it doesn’t.
Pulling it out of storage, cleaning it up, taking photos, but not changing the oil and trying to start it and you are a dealer?
The dealer selling this says it all…..if you know what I mean…hint …hint….hint……not to mention “(rear passenger side window is missing). Right.
Interesting car and even more interesting e-bay ad? They don’t specify the serial # or mileage 175229 mi? Ripped passenger seat and not running engine or why they can’t fix the rear passenger window? It looks to me like an expensive toy and possibly not an original “Cosworth”.
