What Am I? Storage Wars Edition
Welcome to another edition of DT’s latest cure for the Monday morning blues — What Am I? In this fun for kids game we find a random picture of a car from a interweb advertisement and you get to guess what kind of car it came from. This next picture is blurry, improperly exposed and cropped in a such a manner that only the most knowledgeable savants will be able to figure out what part of the car you are looking at, much less what it came from. Update with answer below.
However, the readers of DT are savantier smarter than the average bunch and I’m going to guess that it will be solved within the first 5 minutes. Go!
Update 3PM PST: It didn’t take long, but jlenham correctly guessed that this is from a Lotus Esprit and commenter Mike found the ebay ad. This 1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo is currently bidding for $5,100 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go in Prospect, PA.
The car is a “barn” find, but is currently bidding for DT money and a fairly priced example of a Giugiaro designed early Esprit. Restoration of this car will break your bank if you pay someone to do it, but with the right about of time, stupidity and know-how, you could restore it yourself and save a few bucks for therapy.
Another view of the strange rear trunk/storage space. It looks like a great place to put stuff that you won’t mind getting soak in Lotus juices.

Apparently an '83 to be precise ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Esprit-Black-1983-lotus-esprit-barn-find-restoration-project-/221417994098?forcerrptr=true&hash=item338d8a7772&item=221417994098&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Lotus … from the swirl pot … aka, radiator overflow tank …
Good eyes jlenham. It was such a strangely framed picture I wasn't sure if anyone would figure it out!

Sheesh, thanks Jlenham. THAT was driving me crazy.
Mike for the win!
It just popped in there…
Something about the half visible "turbo" lettering and odd storage space spoke to me.
All I did was find the first early 80's Esprit ebay ad that caught my eye (there weren't many) all credit is deserved by jlenham.
Annnnnnnnnnnnd, like clockwork, it's now on BaT. lol
