The Chevrolet Corvair was built in two generations — the first from 1960-1964 and the later cars built from 1965-1969. The early cars have curves that are softer and more “50s”, while the later cars have a more angular “60s” look, no B-pillar, and an upgrade from the early swing axle rear end to a fully independent setup. The late, great Hunsbloger would always insist that the 65+ models were the only ones to consider, but this next early Monza is so nicely preserved for the asking price that I think he’d give it a second look. The Caprice name was first used by GM on a full sized top of the line Chevrolet in 1966. You could even get the Caprice with a big block pushing 425 horsepower out of some crazy 11:1 compression ratio solid lifter equipped beast…but those are collectible and expensive today…and still slower than the Caprice you can get from a city surplus auction for about $5k. The sixth generation Caprice was built in Australia through 2017 when the Holden plant was closed and another chapter in the automotive history books was closed.
