New car dealers have strange cars on their lots. You can’t even find a manual transmission at a Ferrari or Lamborghini dealership in 2021, but if you have a hankerin’ for a mid-engine car with a manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive, skip the fancy new dealerships and head to craigslist. Yeah. Because the mid-engine car you are going to buy today doesn’t have a prancing quadruped on the hood, but it does have a stick shift and seats 7. Find this 1992 Toyota Previa offered for $2450 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
From the seller:
1992 toyota previa
cylinders: 4 cylinders
paint color: white
title status: clean
Rare 1992 Toyota Van with Manual 5spd transmission and rear wheel drive.
Drivable condition, all mechanical systems operate. Good on gas.
Clean Title and 2 year Emissions Certificate in hand.
Has same dependable, long-lasting 4-cylinder engine as the Toyota pick up, starts right up and runs strong. I have changed oil regularly since I bought it in 1996 and this van has an oil fill reservoir, so it has NEVER been driven low on oil. Tires (Michelin), suspension and brakes are all in good shape, all speeds shift. Three rows of seating, comfortably seats 7, seats fold down to make a bed (see pics) or remove them to haul cargo.
With some TLC, could be a great camping van or it’s ready to be your work truck.
Some interior parts are rough. Heater and A/C work but blower fan only has 2 speeds. Needs valve cover gasket but I didn’t fix that because it only leaks a little oil. Van will probably need new clutch soon.
$2450 CASH is a fair price, but I’ll consider reasonable offers. Don’t waste everybody’s time with low ball offers.
