Scrum Master-san: 1991 Autozam Scrum Truck

Back in the go-go 80’s, Japan’s economy and its car makers were flying high.  Established automakers introduced new brands to the home islands.  Mazda introduced the Autozam brand, mainly to sell Kei cars.  Find this 1991 Autozam (Mazda) Scrum Truck for sale in Clackamas, OR for $5,800 via craigslist.

Autozam is best known outside of Japan for it’s funky mid-engined, pidgeon gull-winged kei sports car, the AZ-1.  Autozam also sold 8 other models including the Scrum.  The Scrum was available as a micro van and pickup.  Being a JDM vehicle, it only came in right hand drive, so you will have to pass with care – if you can find anything to pass.  Equipped with a 660cc 3 cyclinder with a 5 speed Emanuel manual four and wheel drive, your pace may be described as leisurely.   The seller does note that their truck is 100% legal on Oregon roads and “don’t let anyone tell you different.”

The trucklet’s drive system lets you shift between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive and the back provides plenty of room for developers, provided they are agile.  The seller seems to know their way around import rules as they list the truck has NHTSA HS-7, EPA 3520-1 and a customs formal entry 7501 – signed & stamped.  You may want to ask them about any TPS reports, but their papers seem in order.
