Pygmy Pony: 1997 Mazda Miatastang
I know…I know…the world is a strange place. And people are motivated by different things across the spherical globe we call planet earth…but for the life of me…I couldn’t understand why someone would invest 100s of hours of time into transforming an old Miata into a Mustang…until I remember that old Miata’s are cheap and Mustangs are wicked. So yeah. This makes sense now.** Find this 1997 Mazda Miatastang offered for $9,800 in Salem, OH via autotrader.com — tip from Amos.

More of a Miss-tang, in my book. Especially once you get to the photos of the crumbling Fiberglas. But I will give a nod to impressive original execution of a misguided idea.
It made me go and look to see if this was a commercial kit. I did not find it, but I did find an amazing array of other kits, some of them really well done.
Miata body conversions
I really liked this one:

Oops, I found the source of the Miastang kit:
Carscoops article about the Miata Mustang
What would Bojack Horseman drive?
Can I get a Miata stretched on a Mustang chassis?
These both seem like "brilliant" ideas
The proportions in the side view make it look like something a Shriner should drive in a parade.
Giving me all kinds of ideas.
Maybe I can turn my Mustang convertible into a Hum-V?
Or hey, my Excursion into a golf cart. THAT would be cool (4WD, Air Con, and a BIG V-10 (gas) to climb those hills!). Could even put a fridge in back…
Growing up in Detroit (a place with LOTS of spare car parts), I'd see cars like this a lot.
Like this Aug 2016 DT feature:

Stan (the *other* Stan…)
See the two guys in the background of the pic? That's helpful of them to provide a realistic portrayal of the reception this would get at the average Cars and Coffee.
Most guys want a Mustang V8 in a Miata, this guy wanted the opposite.
Misgustang.
Absolutely repulsive idea that was pretty well executed….
here's a bit more about it from jalopnik:
