Portrait of Evolution: 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. At least that is the rationale given for factory racing programs, especailly those that race sedans.  Of course the racecar might look a little different than the showroom floor version (because areo)  But then that is what aftermarket body kits are for.  Find this 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde with an evolution body kit for sale in “Quenns” (sic), NY for $5,500 via craigslist.

Tip from Rock On!

Back in the late 80’s Alfa Romeo raced a turbocharged version of the Milano (or 75 in the Old Country) in the DTM or German Touring Car series.  The race version was all decked out in the latest areo skirts, flares und dams.  Over here in the New World, we got the V-6 version of the Milano, either in its 2.5 liter Silver or Gold trim level or the 3.0 liter Verde.  Filling a racer wannabe gap in the market, an Italian company offered an “Evo” body kit replica of the 75 Turbo Evoluzione racer.  This Verde has the kit installed which consisted of a a new front bumper, front splitter, side skirts, rear bumper, and front and rear wheel arch flares.

As to the rest of the car, no interior or engine shots are included in the ad, so you are shooting in the dark until you get hands on with the subject.  Ask about the timing belt.
