Not A Ferrari: 1976 Invader GT
I’m not sure if you could describe anything powered by an original Volkswagen flat-4 as “like a race car” …but if add enough displacement, compression, and fuel into VW pancake, you MIGHT get something that’ll sound like a race car backwards or forwards. But does it really matter when the car looks this good standing still? Find this 1976 Invader GT offered for $5750 in Milwaukee, WI via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
From the seller:
1976 Invader GT
cylinders: 4 cylinders

Based on a 1976 Volkswagen chassis this car drives like a race car out of the late sixties or early seventies and is a blast to drive it needs nothing and runs and drives great.

Alex, I'll take names of proctologist cars for $100
Alex: "First sold in 1989, this car was intended to be a replacement for the Ford Mustang."
(Looks like "What is Invader GT?" may be the question for a higher amount.)
One of my co-workers bought an Invader GT in worse condition to use as an engine donor for a VW-powered sand rail. I'm not sure if it was the fault of the kit or the builder, but it had an extremely sketchy steering column mount design that broke loose at some point.
But, but '76 would make it a super beetle.
And fuel injected and catalyst equipped.
I was hoping this was going to be a Gilbern Invader built in the lovely city of Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales.
