Mullet Dryer: 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible
Pickup trucks are the working dogs of the automotive world…and for decades they were strictly form-follows-function work machines. But then auto designers started to get creative to sell things like pickups that were built from cars (the El Camino and Ranchero) and even performance pickups (SVT Lightning…etc)..and Dodge even went as far as to built a convertible pickup truck…so you could haul junk to the dump and have your mullet air dried at the same time. Find this 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible offered for $3500 in Norwalk, NY via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

I’ve had this awesome truck for 12 years it’s time to move on. Truck runs great. Only 88,000 miles. Power windows and power locks. Needs a new top. Replaced the fuel and brake lines, master cylinder and brakes. Tires have about 1000 miles on them. There was only 4000 of these ever made and a lot less still around.

Horrible idea then and now…..lame….!
A box of 24 rolls of black duct tape and you are down the road !
The before and after photos tell the story here. It looks decent in the first photo, then you realize that was shot before the truck sat out neglected for what must have been years. The top/paint/wheels all went downhill as you can see in the rest of the shots. I can imagine the same goes for everything you don't see.
Rare, but not valuable. As it sits, I think it's overpriced, and I wouldn't completely trust a seller that advertises a vehicle this way. The best thing to do with this truck would be the Shelby swap of the 3.9 V6 for the 5.2 V8. There weren't any convertible Shelby Dakotas, so you'd have a 1 of 1.
Mullet dryer! Never heard that one before. I love it.
