Mini-Meow: 1970 Arctic Cat Mini Bike
A few years ago when my son was around twelve, he seemed to spend every hour of the day in front of the xbox shooting or blowing stuff up or in front of YooToob watching people shooting or blowing stuff up on an xbox. That changed when I bought a somewhat crappy XR80 off Craigslist and he discovered the joy of interacting with a mechanical transportation device in the physical world. Reading stuff like this, I wonder if it isn’t the duty of every DT reader to buy a mini bike and introduce a kid to it. Find this 1970 Arctic Cat Mini Bike for sale in Anchorage, AK for $2,000 via craigslist.
Tip from Zach Z.
Arctic Cat is well known for producing snow mobiles, but in the early 70’s it attempted to cash in on the motorcycle craze with a line of mini bikes. This Cat is the SSSCAT. Why you would name a product after poop, I’m not sure, but it probably was a selling point to those who are 10 (or still 10). From what little I was able to find on the internet after a long 5 minutes of searching is that it was powered by a 172cc Tecumseh air cooled 4 stroke giving you around 4 powers of horse. The ad says that it is an unridden barn find, hence the high price.
