Manual Box: 1993 Volvo 850GLT

The Volvo 850 was introduced in 1991 as a replacement for the aging 240 Series Volvo that had been the standard for all things boxy but good since 1974. While the 850 brought additional Volvoish safety features like a side impact protection system and self-adjusting front seat belts, it ditched the longstanding rear-wheel-drive architecture that had underpinned just about everything from Volvo since Ferdinand Volvo launched the first Volvo automobile in 1927. The 850 did introduce a series of 5-cylidner engines, which is good because it is strange and strange is always something you want in a car…but power going to the front wheels was very non-Volvo. At least this one has a manual gearbox. Find this 1993 Volvo 850GLT offered for $3,500 in Soquel, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
