Loony Labor Day: 1973 Saab Sonett III

A stock SAAB Sonett is a loony car, powered by 2-stroke or V4 mated to the front wheels with an Italian inspired design created/executed by a group of Swedes. The 3rd generation Sonett was a strange looking vehicle when new, but somehow a customizer turned this one into even MORE of a head turner spit-taker. Find this 1973 Saab Sonett III custom offered here on eBay
bidding for $2,600 reserve-not-met with a $6,000 buy-it-now located in Sarasota, FL. Tip from Rene.
The Sonett was a futuristic looking vehicle when it was released, with its wedge shape and scoops, but this one has added front bumper funkiness, side scoops, etc. It is also much lower than stock and riding on some 16-inch wheels fitted via adapters.
Power comes from a stock looking Saab V4 engine, expect the 1.7 liter V4 to put out 65 horsepower and manage to push the wedge to a surprisingly high 103 mph top speed.

I think my 5 year old designed this. Oh wait, his had rocket launchers.
I believe this is Inspector Gadget's car
This makes me very sad
Someone spent big money to achieve the look of a kit car.
That front 3/4 view is not too bad. It is the rear end and the combo with the skirts that just looks too heavy. It's a shame, because someone did some nice work, and even SOME nice design elements.
Looks like a Honda CRX, but better…
except the CRX is WAY faster…lol
