Instructions Not Included: 1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo

Here’s your chance to own a proper wedge of ’80s exotica—minus the part where it currently runs. This next feature project is red over tan, turbocharged, manual, and unapologetically in pieces. The engine and transaxle are out (thanks to a suspected timing belt mishap), but both have been inspected and blessed by a local Euro masochist…I mean, machinist. Everything you need to put it back together is included (minus your time, patience, family, etc)—plus some tasteful upgrades like ARP hardware, silicone hoses, a shiny ALUNOX exhaust, and a Wizard aluminum radiator, because you’ll need some help from Gandalf’s magic to get this thing back on the road. Find this 1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo offered for $14000 in Tempe, AZ via faceproject mindblownbook.

YES-It’s still available. NO, DeLoreans are not for sale.Friends,
Despite my best intentions, it’s time to find this Lotus a new home. I had hoped to complete the reassembly of this beautiful machine, but fate is forcing my hand.
I purchased a few years ago as a non-runner. Engine and Transaxle came out due to a suspected slipped timing belt. The cylinder head was surfaced and given a clean bill of health from my local Euro machinist. Likewise, the rotating assembly measured out perfectly. Virtually all parts needed to reassemble are included, and were sourced from JAE. There’s also some tasty upgrades- ARP fasteners, Silicone hoses, ALUNOX Exhaust, Wizard Aluminum Radiator….
Frame is dry and solid. no evidence of any accident damage or rust. Body and paint are 7.5/10. Red paint is a good re-spray that shows normal wear and tear, but presents well. I expect the brakes and suspension will need to be gone through. Tires hold air but are not suitable for road use. Interior is complete, but could use a good cleaning, and maybe new carpet. Glass is good.
Car has a clean Arizona title in my name.
Car is a roller. Engine, transaxle, and all associated parts will crated and shipped via freight. Car is located in Tempe AZ. I can assist with transport.
Please feel free to ask any questions. if you are reading this, the car is still available. Not interested in trades.

I was excited until I saw the price. Feels like strong money for a box of parts the seller claims will make a functioning car.
About a decade ago I had the opportunity (but no where near the funds) to purchase one like this in fully functioning condition from a co-worker. I decided it was not worth the risk at the time to take a loan or try to figure the money out for it.
