Diamond in the Rough: 1967 Ford Galaxie 500
This next car comes as a tip from SecondMouse who writes: This is about as cheap as it gets for a sixties era two door big block muscle car. This 1967 Ford Galaxie 390 runs and drives, and may just be the rat rod starting point you are looking for, with seller asking $4000. Find this 1967 Ford Galaxie offered for $4000 in Livingston TX via craigslist.

Yeah, this needs a lot of work, but appears to be an honest 4K car. If the rest of the floors look as good as the inside of the trunk wouldn't be too bad. Maybe rust in lower rear quarters, but we have all seen worse where the seller is asking more.
My first police cruiser. '67 Ford 390/325 HP. First cruisers with front disc brakes. Had a lot if fun in that car. She would scoot when she got rolling.
Oh. Yeah.
Cover the seats with aftermarket tight-fit covers, cut the top off, weld I-beams to the frame, and you have a GREAT 60s convertible for under $5K.
Yes, I'm serious.

I'd love to cruise around in one with the Reverend Horton Heat's Galaxy 500 jammin' on the stereo.
