Cheap Hatchback: 2006 Audi A3

I’ve always enjoyed being a bit of an outlier. Well…maybe counter cultural. A square peg in a world of round holes. Anyway, as the prices of used cars have escalated to stupid high levels, I find myself heading in the opposite direction, towards cars that are cheap cheap cheap. $20k for a car? That’s nuts. How about $6k. Yeah. I’m not scared of electrical gremlins, are you? Find this 2006 Audi A3 offered for $6,300 in Rio Rancho, NM via craigslist.

As a 2006 A8 owner (that’s the car model year, not mine) who just got a quote of $4,200 to fix SOME of the things wrong with my Audi I must chuckle. This A3 will not cost you $6,300.
That said, if you love it, buy it. As every dumb looking turdbox merges onto the highway on my daily commute I smile and think “damn I like driving a good looking (to me) car.” And when some dingus is hogging the left lane going slower than traffic there is something to be said for pressing the go pedal and getting around someone at pace. Life is too short to not take risks on Audi electronics.
Was that a ‘yes?’
