Bronze Age: 1973 Mercury Capri
If you wanted a fun 2-door from Ford in 1973 you had a few options. You could get a little junky Pinto, a larger junky Maverick, a plus sized Mustang, a gigantic Torino or a XXL Thunderbird (which was a 5000lb two-door in ’73, no joke). But there was another Skywalker. There was a hidden gem, built in Germany by Ford, badged as the Mercury Capri, and it handled better than anything from the Americas. Oddly enough, the American public loved the Capri and at its peak the Capri was the second most imported car into the USA (first was the Beetle, of course). However, you don’t find many Capris driving around on the street today and this next example is about the top of the market…and wowza, that is some groovy paint. 1973 Mercury Capri. Capri was completely repainted and rebuilt in 2015. Here is just some of what was completed. Odometer shows 05844 but motor completely rebuilt and only 236 Miles driven since rebuild .. Will not find a nicer Capri anywhere anytime soon. Was a 50th B-Day present to myself. We sold that car on to a guy about my age who is still getting a kick out of driving it around. Great car and about as brown as brown gets!
I do wish the Capri seller had taken some outdoor photos of his car — I bet it is absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight!

I hear that people get nearly a half million miles out of those things!
I don’t know where on the East coast sunrises look like this. I’ve seen some root beer sunrises in L.A.though. Well the San Fernando valley anyway. Hell, last summer it looked like that at noon in the San Joaquin valley.
I wasn’t sold on this one until I read that it has new wiper blades and nitrogen in the tires.
But seriously, it looks like a good one and I’m sure that the seller has more invested in it than the asking price.
Now that’s a car that really looks good in brown. Not many cars can pull that off.
Love this, but if the owner did all that work without knowing how to press the cap lock I am not sure I trust any of it. OMG I want this thing bad but it is way over my budget 🙁
