Bravossa Widebody: 1976 Porsche 914

The Porsche 914 was the entry level offering from the aircooled engine guys from Stuttgart in the early 1970s, and it is well known for fun handling and subtle styling. Today’s example has a crazy modified body that looks like it could win a race against a fighter jet, but the basic stock 2.0 liter flat-4. Expect a lot of confused cops looking to recalibrate their radar guns after you cruise by 5 mph under the speed limit. The car was acquired from the children of whose mother owned the car and loved going to car shows with it. Sadly she passed away and the car was stored for about eight years in a heated attached garage until it was purchased by us.
The 2.0-liter flat-four was rated at 95 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque when new. A new carburetor was installed and oil was changed in preparation for sale.
The engine runs great, brakes and shifts smoothly (see the YouTube video). The interior is in great shape and the seats look new. The headlights open and close correctly. The body and chassis is very solid throughout.

The speedometer shows 92,520 and works intermittently along with the tachometer. The vehicle is being sold as-is. This is a great car for the hobbyist – it is close to being 100% but will need some time spent to make it perfect.
This 914 is offered as pictured with a clean Illinois rebuilt title.
The car looks like it was never in an accident based on the the inner structures – all look original. I don’t know why it has a rebuilt title – when I bought the car it had a rebuilt title.

The Porsche 914 is a mid-engine sports car designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 to 1976. It was only available as a Targa-topped two-seat roadster powered by either a flat-4 or flat-6 engine.

Reminds me of this thing I “bought for my kid” that lets you add a little motor to a paper airplane – https://www.poweruptoys.com/products/powerup-2-0-paper-airplane-conversion-kit
The 1.0 version was fun but limited. Apparently now it’s full AI, self-piloting, hovers and lands on the charging station, brings you a michelada and a bowl of takilocos, and spiels an entertaining monologue about how technology will incrementally turn us all into starship captains, whilst surreptitiously draining your mind and will for its own power.
