Big Green Coupe: 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 Coupe

If you don’t immediately smile when you see this next car…then I don’t know what is wrong with you. The full sized Galaxie with 2-doors was an acceptable family car back in the late 60s early 70s, which would surprise all of the crossover buying kids these days who immediately step up to a minivan when they get pregnant with the second child. Meanwhile in the 70s, you have families of 7 or 8 crawling into a giant 2-door coupes…it was a different time. Seeing these cars on the road next to modern giant family SUVs always puts a smile on my face. Find this 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 Coupe offered for $7000 in North Hollywood, CA via craigslist.

Smiling indeed. It also makes me kinda laugh in that this land yacht is about 800 lbs. lighter than my Dodge Charger. This car in black with a set of wheels would be too damn awesome.
60k miles in 50 years.
Shame there aren’t any interior or trunk space shots. I suppose it leaves more to the imagination that way!

There must be something underneath that big old hood, but not a clue In the ad.
Blame Vince for the speculation over the multiplicity of Ford engines.
This car makes me want to put on a wide-lapel suit and drive around the streets of San Francisco investigating homicides. I love it.
