Back To The Futurismo: 1982 DeLorean DMC-12

A flying DeLorean…sure, I can get behind that.  Even a hoverboard, well we sort of have those…but the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series — that is just ridiculous.  Today is Oct 21st, 2015, the day to which Marty McFly jumped forward at the end of the original Back To The Future and spent the bulk of his time in Back To The Future II.  So sit back, pop open a cold one, and enjoy today’s collection of cars from the Robert Zemeckis trilogy.  Let’s kick things off the right way with this 1982 DeLorean DMC-12 here on eBay bidding for $23,700 with an auction that ends at October 21, 2015 at 4:29, located in Brentwood, TN.

The DMC-12 was on its way to being an iconic classic long before Zemeckis cast it as the star in his Back To The Future film trilogy.  The fiberglass chassis with stainless steel body built in Belfast is just about as odd and strange a combination you can get without finding yourself in something from Citroen.

Powering the DMC-12 isn’t a Mr. Fusion, but a PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) V6 displacing 2.9 liters and putting out 130 horsepower and 153 ft-lbs of torque.  Reaching 88 mph won’t take 30 years, but don’t expect it to feel remotely fast compared to modern cars.

This 53k mile DMC-12 is one of the better looking examples being offered for sale right now (timing is everything) and it shows in the current bidding price.
