Another 429 ThunderJet: 1971 Ford Thunderbird Landau

The Ford with a giant THUNDERJET 429 was an amazing piece of history, but if you are going to drive a THUNDERJET, it probably should be in a Thunderbird. The Thunderbird might have been born in 1955 as a lithe competitor to the Corvette…but 4 generations later it was this epic toucan nose styled with a back seat and thirsty big block power…they probably should have called it the dodobird. Find this 1971 Ford Thunderbird Landau offered for $15,000 in Cinicinatti, OH via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Automatic, air conditioning, 429 Thunder Jet V8 360 HP (N engine code), power windows, original books and paperwork. 48,582 actual miles. Receipts and registrations dating back to 1971. Original owner died in 1973, family kept the car for parades until 2015. I’ve owned it 2 years. Custom dual exhaust, rebuilt carburetor (4 barrel original to car, rebuilt by “Mustangs and More” in Kansas City), spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, breather filter, oil and filter, thermostat, coolant sensor, vacuum sensor, radiator cap, gas cap, distributor cap, rotor button, condenser and points, starter, fuel pump, water pump, master cylinder, brake hoses, new antifreeze and brake fluid.

Runs and drives very good. Original and complete with excellent top and interior. The car can easily drive long distances and the 429 still has all it’s punch. Asking $15,000 OBO in person. Would rather not store it this winter.
