The Ford with a giant THUNDERJET 429 was an amazing piece of history, but if you are going to drive a THUNDERJET, it probably should be in a Thunderbird. The Thunderbird might have been born in 1955 as a lithe competitor to the Corvette…but 4 generations later it was this epic toucan nose styled with […]
Whenever someone asks me to explain why I like the Thunderbird, I always tell them it is because of the hooknose styling and suicide doors. The questioner will then look around to see if I’m being followed by men in white coats…but I’m not, because I lost them years ago, but if you want a […]
When I saw the photos for this next car I first thought it was a Torino…but then I realized it was an LTD…except it wasn’t. It is a Ford Galaxie (not a Galaxy) XL, which is a big 429 ThunderJet V8 powered 2-door behemoth that has a set of rear sail panels that simulate a fastback roofline. And if you thought it looks good from the outside, just look at the driver centric dash pod…wow. Find this 1969 Ford Galaxie XL Sportsroof offered for $23,500 in Glendale, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Ford introduced the 5th generation of Thunderbird luxury coupe in 1967, with what can only be described as the vehicular equivalent of fat Elvis. Gone was the slim figure, chiseled good looks, and agile hips — but the booming voice was still there — hidden behind giant sunglasses and a cape — but still there. […]
Finding a two door American car with a big block V8 for cheap is one of the things that puts a smile on my face. Far too many big American coupes are traded between wealthy folks via Barrett Jackson or Mecum auctions…but not today! Find this 1970 Ford Galaxie XL 429 ThunderJet offered for $7,500 […]
