A Tale of Two FX16s: 1987 Toyota Corolla FX-16

Head over to the Toyota.com website, where they’ve dubbed the soy-flavored Corolla with the tagline “Fun to drive. Styled to be seen.” It’s basically their way of saying, “Get ready for a ride as thrilling as waiting at the DMV.” The hip urban youth in the ads, decked out in yoga pants and multitasking with credit reports on their phones or strapping on roller skates, probably can’t fathom that the Corolla was once a zippy little joy machine. Back in the day, it was the cool kid with names like AE86 Levin, Sprinter Trueno, and the FX-16 hatchback. I will give Toyota credit with the new $40K GR Corolla, but the regular Rolla is a snooze fest. Today, we’ve got two older FX-16 Corollas for your viewing pleasure. First is this 1987 Toyota Corolla FX-16 offered for $6,500 in Los Angeles, CA via famebrook placemark.

Seller’s Description
Hi everyone up for sale I have my 1987 Toyota Corolla FX16 GTS. The car is in pretty good shape, has very minor surface rust, I know these tend to rust out around the windows and hatch area, but this one is pretty solid. Still has original paint although it could use a respray. Car has 127k on the chassis, runs and drives pretty good for its age, interior is also in nice shape. Only thing it could use are some fresh tires. It holds a clean title, tags up to date, asking 6500 or better offer, any questions feel free to ask, thanks for looking.

Next up is this 1987 Toyota Corolla FX-16 offered for $6000 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.
