6-Speeds, 10-Cylinders, 2-Doors: 2007 BMW M6
If you want a fast luxury 2+2 Grand Tourer from the mid 2000s there are a number of good looking cars to choose from — Mercedes SLK, Jaguar XK8, Aston Martin DB7, Audi A5/S5, et cetera…but if you want something with a manual gearbox and a Bangle-butt, there is only one choice — the BMW 6-series. Find this 2007 BMW M6 here on eBay bidding for $15,400 reserve-not-met located in Atlanta, GA.
The E63 generation M6 Coupe and E64 M6 Convertible was introduced for the 2006 model year at some European motor show — but that isn’t important, what is important is that the convertible was a pig at 4400 lbs (Buick Roadmaster Wagon weight…in a two-door?) but the coupe was 650 lbs lighter, better looking, and more torsionally rigid.
Under the hood is the same S85 powerplant used in the M5, a 5.0 liter V10 that pushes out 500 horsepower into a 7-speed single clutch SMG, or a 6-speed manual gearbox. At $102k MSRP when new, BMW didn’t sell many of these things (323 coupes with the 6-speed manual out of 9000 total), but they are a bargain today.

Ha ha the graphic icon is so great for this one.
My friend had one of these and it was really fun to ride in. Awesome sound.
These cars are insane. 500 horsepower doesn't sound like much in world where you can buy a 700 hp dodge, but holy frak these things are mean when you goose it. Put a loud set of pipes on it, you'd be doing the world a favor.
The only thing that kept me from buying one (actually an M5 with paddle shift) was a test drive on which I got an "engine failure warning" I decided I wouldn't know what to do with that, and I'd have to take it to a dealer, which I wasn't too keen on. Bought a Z4M coupe instead because there's not a problem on that car that I can't fix myself.
I later found out an "engine failure warning" can happen if the nasty little dealer who was selling it fills it with 87 octane. And that's one of very many reasons I will never return to Dallas if I can help it.
Yes the true test of this V10 will be if they can survive past 200,000 miles like the 5.0 S62. I am amazed at the number of high milage e39 M5s that are still doing well.
A buddy of mine just bought a 4s from Dallas off ebay. Car arrived with a destroyed motor. $12,000 rebuild. It is actually his fault for not getting a ppi but still sucks.
The only part uglier than the back of this car is the front. Sorry, but I haven't liked the look of any BMW since the '90s. To me they just get worse with every redesign. No matter how great they are to drive, I wouldn't want one. I feel the same way about pretty much every other German car maker. Can't think of a BMW, MB, Audi, VW, or Porsche from this century that I'd pick over one from the last.

What a great car. Not sure I dig the grey exterior coupled with the white interior, but still love the white interior. (it'll hide the coke i spill) Huh? What?
Still miss our '08 550i with the M-Sport package…..
I nearly bought one of these for the engine alone, but the manual transmission premium always them out of my reach, and the smg wouldn't cut it for me.
I did learn that these engines eat rod bearings like Pez candy. If you don't catch it before one one fails, you'll have a nice 5 figure repair bill.
This trend has outstripped the older trend of buying a BMW with a 4 or 5 years auto loan. That is one of the reasons why so many pre-owned BMWs are hitting the marketused car dealerships near me
