5k: Topless Longbed: 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible Pickup
Today’s second feature comes from tipper Andy L who writes:
Here is a strange 80’s example that I confess I had never known about
until now. It could be fun, if noisy and windy is your thing. I am
afraid that its uniqueness might be lost on the vast majority of
onlookers, and most people would probably dismiss it as a salvage title
hack-job. Still, a cheap way to get into a rare one-off with relatively
low miles.
Find this 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible Pickup for sale in Omaha, NE for $2,999 via craigslist.
A few of us at DT didn’t know about the convertible Dakota Sport before seeing this one – and it is intriguing. However, like a sailor heading to a gentleman’s club with a pocket full of singles, we really want to know what this thing looks like with its top down. The Dakota ‘vert was the first topless pickup since Ford’s Model A went out of production in 1931 and was the product of the well known top-chopping American Sunroof Corp (ASC).
Of course this seller doesn’t include a photo of the Dakota with its top down – so we ran out to the ever present interwebs to find something appropriate.
