5k: Tijuana Taxi: 1966 Volkswagen Beetle

We aren’t in Kansas anymore Dorothy…except that today’s crazy feature comes from the Sunflower State yet is more at home in the border towns of California.  The Volkswagen Beetle has been customized in more ways than All Saint’s Eve has been desecrated by scantily clad women…so we are just going to slip this in as a Horrorod feature and hope no one notices it isn’t technically Halloweeny.  Find this 1966 Volkswagen Beetle custom for sale in Hutchinson, KS currently bidding for $1,675 via ebay.  Tip from Andy L.

The basic 1966 Volkswagen Type 1 shape, as designed by Erwin Komenda and Ferdinand Porsche (ripped off from Tatra designs of Hans Ledwinka) under the direction of Adolf Hitler, is intact but a custom paint job, green headlights, Tijuana Taxi emblems and a roof rack set this one apart from the crowd.

The inside has been thoroughly customized with a set of banquet hall swapped seats for the ultimate in beetle-wedding comfort.  In all likelihood there is a pastor of a small holy-roller church group that meets in an empty office building on the weekends that is now down a pair of chairs.  Pastor Gary is likely pissed, but has publicly forgiven the thief for his crimes and has asked his flock for the funds to buy another “row of pews.”

Current bidding price is low, but don’t expect it to stay that way.  See a better horrorod? tips@dailyturismo.com
