5k: KITT Meets Cobra: 1963 Triumph TR4 V8

Carroll Shelby may have passed on to the great junkyard in the sky, but that doesn’t stop anyone from emulating his winning formula of shoving a domestic V8 in a British sportscar. Even Triumph owners are getting into the action, but this TR4 mixes Shelbyism with a vintage David Hasselhoff vibe. Say what?  Just keep reading. Find this 1963 Triumph TR4 V8 here on eBay currently bidding for $2225 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Silverdale, WA.

The advertisement starts off as most do, with a few pics of the exterior of the car, which looks like its been painted with roofing tar.  The dude in the picture is unidentified, but one has to assume it is the seller, but a block holding the car in place places this car firmly in project territory.

Dive deeper into the build and you find a Ford 302 cubic inch V8 of undisclosed vintage/donor vehicle and build quality.  Some pink overspray (underspray?) is puzzling, but let’s get to some more pics.

Just sit here on this milk crate, hold the ignition cylinder with this set of vice-grips while you turn and key and push these two wires together to signal left.  Unless you car has 1/2 turn lock-to-lock, a knight rider style steering wheel is a really bad idea.

Who is this dude?  What does he have to do with the car?  A beloved relative?  Builder?  Santa Claus in the summer?

Wait…a pink TR4?  Why are we looking at this?  Is this what the car looked like before the seller painted it with a roller?  Why include pics of the tow truck dudes?

This guy again? He has traded his sleeveless shirt for something more fall/winter appropriate, but the headgear looks the same.  Why are we looking at him?

Why are we now looking at an old truck?  What happened to the windscreen and hood — why is it included in this eBay listing?
