5k: Freshen It Again Tomorrow: 1971 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe, Restomod

The Fiat 850 was a funky rear-engined classic available as a sedan (berlina), sport coupe, familiare (bus), spider and wagon. We’ve featured a number of these rear-engined 850s, because they offer the vintage charm of a much more expensive vehicle. Find this 1971 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe for sale in Kent, WA currently bidding for $4,450 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.
This 850 has been through a bare metal restoration, and the seller even includes a few pics of the car sans paint in its naked aluminum glory. The end result is a nice but restrained deep burgundy color and what looks like a totally stock exterior.

The original Fiat 850 engine and its 35 horsepower has been swapped for a 1.4 liter Fiat 124 engine that puts out something around 75 horsepower. The seller states that this car has been built as an Abarth 1300 tribute and the seller has a turbo kit that comes with the car for even more power.

The inside of this Fiat has also be refreshed on the inside and it looks very useable. The thick steering wheel looks great for flicking this sport coupe through a rally stage or autocross cones.

I shudder to do this but a long discussion on this car which has been listed several times now attempting to sell is found at BAT. Sweet looking and modified very nicely as an Abarth. If I was not overstocked with cars this would be one I would look at very closely. see bringatrailer.com/2013/03/03/1971-fiat-850-sport-coupe/#comment-543630
