5k: Classic 4X4: 1967 Jeepster Commando

The Jeepster Commando was a Kaiser Jeep built 4X4 sold from 1966-1973 as a station wagon, convertible, roadster and pickup.  The Commando was eventually replaced with the more modern full sized Cherokee, but it left an impression on many owners and today they have a dedicated following.  Find this 1967 Jeepster Commando for sale in Phoenix, AZ currently bidding for $4,800 reserve-not-met on ebay.  Tip from Andy L.

This Jeepster Commando  is technically a roadster with a removable hardtop that according to the seller can be removed in a few minutes by two men.  This is good news because if this was my Commando, I’d drive it around topless every chance I could.

Powering the Commando is a 3.7 liter Dauntless V6 good for 160 horsepower and 235 ft-lbs of torque – which isn’t going to thrill anyone, but should be adequate for simple commuting and small hill climbing/light mudding.

The seller claims he recently inherited this Commando, but that his grandfather had restored some of the truck after it sat in a warehouse for 20 years.  The headline is ugly, but otherwise the inside looks decent.
