15k: 4-Door Vette: 2005 Cadillac CTS-V
Back to the basics with this post after a few overpriced projects, in the shape of one of my favorite Corvette powered cars. The Cadillac CTS-V is a modern hot-rod sedan from General Motors and prices are very reasonable in the market today. Find this 2005 Cadillac CTS-V for sale in Billings, MT for $13,000 via craigslist. Tip from Oldsmobuick.
The CTS-V appeared in 2004 to stun the world with a properly fast Cadillac that could take a turn without listing like a torpedo’d ocean liner. No need to scream “abandon ship” at the first sign of FIA curbing as the CTS-V was “tuned” on the Nürburgring and will accelerate to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds thanks to its 400 horsepower 5.7 liter LS6 V8 (borrowed from the C5 Z06 Corvette), a 6-speed manual gearbox and a LSD rear end. All good stuff, from GM’s parts bin, packaged in a decent quality sedan.

Billings, MT? I would guess that this thing has "gone to plaid" on more than a handful of occasions.
That's way better than constant start/stop in an urban area in my book. I once bought a Mitsubishi Mirage turbo from a guy that commuted 90 miles (each way or combined I don't remember) and had racked up 193,000 in 6 years. The car was perfect except for a worn driver's seat and a sandblasted nose. I flogged the daylights out of it for another 6 years and 60,000miles before it started to have problems (probably due to my bad heel/toeing at PDA events). High miles in wide open spaces, great, I'll buy it no problem.
Can we please have a pic of the interior and engine compartment or should we just blindly send $13,000 for a car with 117K miles on it? I mean really?
Can we please be expected to actually look at something in person before dropping $13k on it? I mean really?
I always thought the early CTS was a pretty ugly car, and the V package doesn't help a lot. There's no denying the appeal of a sedan that's quite quick and gets far better highway mileage than the later CTS-V.
Don't these have bad wheelhop though? If I remember right. I certainly wouldn't kick it out of the garage for that.
