10k: Orange Crusher: 1970 Ford Torino 429 4V

The Torino name was originally applied to an upscale version of the
intermediate Fairlane sedan, but  eventually the Torino name took the
lead from Fairlane.  The Torino was available in sedan, coupe,
convertible and wagon trim, but none was as cool as the fastback (aka
Sportsroof), plus it was available with the giant fuel guzzling and pavement shredding 429 cubic inch V8.  Find this 1970 Ford Torino 429 currently bidding for $9,837 on ebay with a few hours to go, located in Lake City, FL.

The Torino was restyled in 1970 with a sleek “coke bottle” shape
designed for aerodynamics and to emulate 60s fighter jets, but only the
429 big block powered versions had the thrust to match a jet.  This one looks like a project, but it isn’t a total disaster.

The 429 cubic inch V8 under the hood of this fastback is a Ford big block
V8, the seller identifies it as the 370 horsepower Cobra
Jet.  The ad text is somewhat confusing and the seller includes no clue if this car came with the Cobra Jet originally, or if this is a recent addition.
