10k: Luminous Intimidator: 1993 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 Dale Earnhardt Championship Signature Edition

In 1993 Dale Earnhardt achieved his sixth Winston Cup championship driving a custom built tube frame race car with some Chevy stickers on the side.  Of course GM wanted to capitalize on Dale’s win, so they released a Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition Chevrolet Lumina that consisted of a smattering of stickers and embroidered Dale signatures on the headrests among other places.  However, a North Carolina based dealer went one step further by creating a Championship version of the Signature Edition that included a full Earnhardt number/decal/sponsor package for the ultimate fan collectible Lumina.  Find this 1993 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 Dale Earnhardt Championship Signature Edition for sale in Spring Hill, FL for $8,000 via craigslist.  Tip from Scooter.

The Z34 was the performance version in the Lumina lineup and featured an upgraded V6 engine, the FE3 suspension package, dual exhaust, four wheel disc brakes, sport seats and several other cosmetic upgrades.  Slap on the Signature Edition sticker package and it only turns up the awesome up to 11.

The lump under the Z34 hood is a 3.4 liter dual-cam LQ1 V6 that puts out 210 horsepower with manual trans or in this case 200 horsepower with the 4-speed slushbox.  Zero to sixty mph of 7.5 seconds won’t impress anyone today, but was surprisingly quick for a front-drive sedan in 1993.

The few other Dale E signature editions sold in the past few years have been offered at a much higher price, such as this 92 Signature for $26,900, another 92 Signature for $39,000 and a 93 Championship for $18,000.  For $8,000 this one, if a legitimate original could be a great deal for a low budget NASCAR fan.
