Who Needs Traction: 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T

The third and current generation of Dodge’s Challenger hit the showrooms in 2008 and has survived with limited changes for a remarkable 14 years. Dodge claims they will replace it in 2024 with a vehicle that includes an electric powered option, but the Challenger in its current configuration is a glorious automotive dinosaur. Lots of weight, lots of horsepower, little finesse. Today’s example isn’t the big boss SRT-8 version, but it is the 5.7 HEMI powered R/T equipped with a 6-speed manual box. I’ve driven one of these things and they are a hoot and I don’t mind that it has the basic cloth interior because this is a proper muscle car. It isn’t about speed or comfort, it is about the sensation of speed and lack of comfort for your passengers. Find this 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T offered for $13,000 in Austin, TX via craigslist.
