What Am I? Speedo Edition
Welcome back to the Daily Turismo’s favorite guessing game, where you look at pictures we’ve curated from the internet and tell us what we are looking at. This version is much more fun than the version played by your local colorectal surgeon’s group, but not any easier. The game is simple: what kind of car is in the picture? Update with answer below.
If you’ve owned/driven one of these cars, it will probably be easy, but with this nicely overexposed image, the hood details and any potential manufacturer labels are nicely hidden. Bonus points if you can find this exact car.
Update: This is a picture from a recently completed ebay auction for a 1966 Ford Galaxie fire chief car. Congrats to Rene for being the first to solve the riddle.
'66 FoMoCo Something– Galaxie?
I think you are right except it may be a real Police Interceptor!
I had a lot of seat time in a 66 289 Galaxie fastback.
My friends Mom had one that we would borrow regularly.
We took that stock 289 to revs that no man have seen before.
Needless to say that was my first engine swap after we blew it up after a summer of abuse.
Here….1966 Ford Galaxie 500 FIRE CHIEF car
Nicely done! I had actually pulled the pics from this ebay listing that failed to meet reserve sometime last night a $4,000.
Galaxie 500XL, 1968. Exact car….??? still looking.
HMMM, steering wheel makes it a 1965?
In 1965 Ford introduced the double-sided ignition key. In 1967, they introduced the energy absorbing steering wheel center hub. As this car has the double-sided key, but does not have the padded center steering wheel, its a 1965-1966 Ford product. Looking at the width of the dash its their full sized. Looking at the radio to the right, and the red door jambs, I'd say its a retired fire chief's car.
Did this without cheating by reading other folks comments.
'66 Galaxie, yes, that's it, '66 but it's an automatic , and, I keep getting the "Muncie" vibe-like thing. Yes, Fire, but this Muncie…….dunno.
