Volkswagen Powered? 1969 MG MGB

I typically don’t feature cars that have already sold (because DT is here to help you find your next ride, not just glorify El Caminos)…but sometimes there is a car that has sold before I can put up a feature. And sometimes that car is so utterly perplexing that I’VE GOT TO POST IT!! This is one of those cars. An MGB that is powered by a rear mounted Volkswagen Beetle engine and some other people parts too. How does that even work? What do you tell the man at the Autozone counter when he asks year/make/model? William Morris must be rolling over in his grave! Find this 1969 MG MGB that was offered for $7000 in Baldwin Park, CA via ebay motors. Tip from Rock On & Hugh!

Not so much a sleeper as merely sleepy and definitely not a hot rod. The VW 1300 was a one year engine that put out 50hp gross, a little more than half the original MG 1800.
Hopefully the new owner can find a better home for the body.
I think that it would be cool with a big bore VW stroker engine in it.
Just because you can… it most fuck’n certainly doesn’t mean that you should!
Geesh.
“Speedometer does not work”
Don’t worry, you’ll be able to judge your speed by comparing it to nearby elderly pedestrians. They’ll be keeping pace.
