Two Owner Classic: 1997 Ford Crown Victoria LX

The EN53 generation Crown Victoria was released as a stand alone model for the 1992 model year as it had previously been a trim level on the full sized LTD platform. The Crown Vic survived with minor changes through the 1997 model year when it was refreshed and continued through 2012 model year. Today’s Crown Victoria is a classic grandpa/grandma spec and is bidding for a good low price. This two-owner 1997 Ford Crown Victoria LX is selling at no reserve. “It is a very original vehicle in excellent condition,” says the seller, who acquired it in late 2022. It had reportedly been with the original owner, in Virginia, until 2021, when it was sold at an estate sale. Since then, the car has received a number of service updates, and its only reported issue is an apparently faulty antilock brake module. “It appears this car was garaged and used gently,” adds the seller.

The engine is Ford’s Modular 4.6-liter SOHC V8, factory rated at 190 horsepower.
It is backed by a four-speed automatic transmission.
The LX model features a dual-exhaust system and specific transmission shift points.
Recent powertrain service included a tune-up with fuel-injector cleaning and more.
The radiator hoses and intake manifold were also replaced.
The transmission fluid was changed, the driveshaft balanced, and the U-joints replaced.
Also serviced was the rear axle.
A “full paint correction” was performed by the seller on the Deep Forest Green exterior finish.
The clearcoat is said to shine well, with some fading in a couple areas near the trunk.
Exterior blemishes include a few dings and minor scratches.
Per the seller, the door seals, rubber, and exterior trim are in “very good-to-excellent condition.”
The windshield was replaced within the past three years.
Little wear is evident in the Willow Green interior, which features optional leather upholstery.
The interior appears very clean, and the seller reports no stains on the original floor mats.
All the power accessories reportedly work normally, along with the air conditioning system.
The air conditioning system was recharged in the summer of 2022.
The optional Handling and Performance Package was ordered on this vehicle.
It includes 16-inch lace-style aluminum wheels.
They are wrapped with Michelin Defender tires showing 2021 DOT date codes.
