Urban Dictionary says that a Viccup is “what occurs when you’ve been drinking too much or have overeaten (or both) and have a momentary hiccup with a slight vomit aftertaste.” That is just plain wrong, because a Viccup is what happens when you put a Ford F250 Pickup body on top of a Crown Victoria chassis, and it happens far more often than you’d expect. Find this 1973 Ford F250 offered for $7,500 in New Jersey via craigslist. Tip from Cory.
Is fun still legal? I dunno. Somebody told me that they (you know…them) are thinking of banning fun because it isn’t inclusive or exclusive enough. The person who told me that is probably crazy, but then so is the person who would drive around in an ex-cop car. This next one sports a “safety officer” black/white paint job that would need to be turned into pure “detective” black for proper fun…but man…you’d never need to worry about people speeding on your block again. Find this 2007 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor offered for $3900 in Nashville, TN via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
I recommend the P71 Crown Victoria to anyone looking for a cheaply priced late model (yeesh, these things are getting near 20 years old now!) sedan that can do double duty as daily driver and for menacing the neighbors. The de-chromed exterior and cop-specific durability upgrades help sell a used P71 as a fantastic alternative to something like a boring old used Camry/Accord/Fusion/Impala and the only downside is you can’t get one with a shift-it-yerself gearbox…unless the owner has swapped in a 5-speed like this next one. Find this 2005 Ford Crown Victoria P71 offered for $4900 in Newton, NJ via craigslist. Tip from Juan.
When I first saw this next feature, I thought “wow, that is a bunch of money for an 80s Ford Wagon“…but then I started to get into the finer details of this particular wagon. Most 88 LTD wagons have long since been ridden into the ground by the grand kids of the original owners…which is […]
The 2nd generation Crown Victoria was introduced in 1998 and was available to the public (mostly old dudes) through the 2007 model year. From 2008 to 2011 the Crown Vic was only sold for fleet/rental use and was the police car of choice for many precincts. This made spotting smokey and dropping to the legal […]
If someone asks me to recommend a cheap car for everyday driving, I will almost always suggest a used ex-Police Crown Victoria…to which my (soon to be ex) friend will explain the multitude of reasons he/she can’t drive an inexpensive rear-drive heavy-duty car that’ll part traffic like Moses. But for every person who can’t drive […]
This next Horrorod comes from DT tipper Michael who writes: Right color and it makes ‘turbo noises’. So true! It is also a great smoke machine for your Halloween party. Find this 2008 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Turbo offered for $2500 in Pueblo, CO via craigslist. From the seller: 2008 ford crown victoria police condition: good cylinders: […]
It is safe to say that the Ford Crown Vic could be the easiest car in the country to keep on the road. Police, taxi, and livery fleets kept these cars running for years. You could find a mechanic is most any town in the USA to fix one of these cars. The Ford panther […]
The Crown Victoria was the prefered Police car for decades because it was rugged and perfect for stakeouts, traffic patrol, chasing bad guys, and hauling perps…but this next example will be good for exactly ZERO of those things because it is now a 2-door convertible. Find this 1999 Ford Crown Victoria offered for an undisclosed […]
Ford’s final foray into the fullsize body-on-frame segment was a curious mix of old and new – from 2003 – 2011 the Crown Victoria used an all new chassis and suspension, but kept the same old body it had since 1998, which really was just an evolution of the aero design model that debuted way […]
