Thursday Twister: Extra Windshield Wipers
Welcome back another edition of the Thursday Twister, DT’s weekly quiz show where we argue about things are probably inconsequential, but fun anyway. Today’s subject was a suggestion from K2 Mystery Car, and we are looking for cars built after 1990 that have more than 2 wipers. That’s it. Headlight wipers, rear window wipers, side view mirror wipers — anything with a wiping blade.
An example is the mk II Golf, which has a small rear wiper ready to clear dirt, snow, or rain from the hatch glass.
Standard twister rules are as follows:
1. Only one car per comment (be sure to hit the refresh button on your
browser before you post in case someone else has posted since you loaded
the page). Do not nest the replies, just reply to the main post — if
you reply to someone elses comment it should be in reference to his
comment and not a new submission.
2. You can post again, but only after someone else posts another car.
3. The contest will end at Sunday, June 14, 4pm PST.
4. One submission per generation of each make/model
5. Each car must be a running/driving car (no clay model prototypes) and
at least two must have been built of that particular car (no one-offs.) Sold in North America after 1990.
6. No anonymous submissions — pick a name with the Name/URL dropdown.
Ready…set…wipe!
Saab 9000.
Don't go looking for new-parts prices on the headlight wipers unless you want to soil your shorts.
The 900 as well. I have a '93 with headlight wipers.
The vehicle that got me thinking about it…FJ Cruiser

What I was actually wondering was how many 1990+ vehicles have more than two windshield wiper blades. But that would have been too limiting, so El Jefe is right to have widened the field.

The rules specify 'sold after 1990' but it doesn't appear to specify sold NEW…
Duuuh. Doh!
Nobody had this one yet – is there any other that has dual rear wipers?

I have to admit dual rear wipers are uncommon.
I like big blades, I can't deny…
Oooh man that's awesome! Looks like a really good Photoshop. Necessary with width being so much > height
Panhard Dynamic (surely at least one was sold somewhere in the last 25 years). It even has a three-part windscreen (but all three wipers are on the centre section)

I'm gonna guess the last time a Panhard was sold legally for road use in the US was back when de Gaulle was in charge over there.

Dang, did I break DT too? That Panhard photo is not showing up on FireFox, although it did briefly, earlier. Can the rest of you see it?
It seems to come and go. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. That's why I commented above; thought I'd stick my big fat nose into it and post the image, just trying to be helpful. But then it appeared again, so I deleted my comment. Now it's gone again. So, I'll try to be helpful again.

Thanks K2. Your copy shows up, my original does not. Stuff like that is why I do not want my car to be able to take over the steering wheel to park itself.
You're welcome, sir! Just paying back some of the good karma you've sent me.

The Mitsu Evo, in this case IX, one of the very few notchback sedans to carry a swish-swish thing in back:

Ooooo, I had not see that set up. I like it. It's sort of like a Mini Gullwing!
It's a Mini Toomanyparts

Honda Civic EG (1992-1995) hatchback. But not all of the trim levels. I know the VX hyper-miler edition didn't have a wiper, just a plastic plug in the hole (I had one of those cars), but the higher trim levels did. Or maybe it was an option or something.

Another fun fact is that the EG was one of the few modern hatchback cars to have a two-piece hatch, with upward hinged glass and a downward hinged tailgate. You can actually sit on it and have a beer.

This is a case of less is more, so how about Mercedes single windshield wiper, a thing of mechanical and aesthetic beauty:

Ha ha! I'm glad you got a kick out if it as much as I did.
